What cannot be measured, cannot be improved. So first, let’s reverse-engineer what makes up the almighty CAC… the be-all-end-all metric of online adversiting.
As you can see from the formula above, your CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost) is determined by the performance of (3) key metrics, which are:
CPM 📈 (Cost per 1,000 impressions) CPMs depend on market conditions such as competition, supply, demand, etc. that you cannot control.
Link CTR 👉 (Click-through rate) The amount of people that click your ad and end up on your site. It’s really hard to get more than 2% Link CTR when targeting cold audiences. Assume that you cannot control your Link CTR by a significant amount and a max (ideal) value of 2%
Note: If you’re not getting at least 1% Link CTR, your ads need some work. You’re not sending the right message to the right audience.
Conversion Rate 🎯 The amount of people who end up buying once they land on your website. Unlike the other two metrics your Conversion Rate CAN be controlled by you and does not depend on market conditions. It can be improved infinitely.
Now… let’s plug in the avg. values of these (3) key metrics (CPG industry) into the CPA formula…
If you’re like most eCommerce brands, you Avg. Conversion Rate is close to 3%
If you’re doing a decent job at advertising, your Avg. Link CTR is about 1%
If you’re in CPG, targeting health, keto, fitness, etc. to 25-55 year olds, the Avg. CPM (on Facebook/IG) will be about $30
The end result is an ultra-high CAC of $100... Which is simply a number that will sink most eCommerce businesses into the ground!
Even if you have buckets of money in the bank for customer acquisition and can afford this super high CAC… Wouldn’t you want to get 2 customers for the price of 1?
SO… what options do we have given that…
CPMs will not go down
Due to increased competition, it's extremely hard to get more than 2% Link CTR – There are just TOO MANY brands fighting for your ideal customer's attention online
Retargeting is less efficient given the new iOS limitations
Cold prospecting is also less efficient because FB cannot spy what we do outside of its platform without consent anymore
Given the above...
The only viable, secure option to decrease your CAC is to… Work on your CONVERSION RATE!
Why? Because the efficiency of online ad platforms will not increase – if by anything... it will keep going DOWN!
Take a look at the formula again... Conversion Rate is, in effect, the only variable that is directly proportional to CAC that you CAN improve.
If you double your conversion rate (which is what our report will do for you), your CAC will be cut by half. See the formula again when we change the CVR from 3% to 6%....
Our CPA result is now half of what it used to be. So… now you know that relying on market conditions and ad platform efficiency to decrease your consumer acquisition cost is never going to work… and that… Working on a conversion rate optimization strategy is something that can halve your CPA, double the efficiency of your website, while depending completely on you (not the ad platform), and has virtually no limit.

The problem with these “suggestions” is that they will improve your conversion rate by a few 0.01% points at most.
You will keep bleeding cash on ads, not hitting your target metrics and this will most likely result in the death of your busines.
Don’t get me wrong. You should always take the incremental 0.01% increases in conversion rate, because they compound… But...

YOU MUST FOCUS ON THE BIG PICTURE… not button colors and stupid layout improvements!

1. Focus on what your CUSTOMERS really WANT!

- You’ll know which product USPs to call out
